The 6-Day “Southern Wild” Itinerary

  • Day 1: Fly Arusha/Dar to Nyerere National Park (Selous): A scenic bush-flight into Africa’s largest faunal reserve. Afternoon boat safari on the Rufiji River to see hippos and crocodiles.
  • Day 2: Nyerere National Park Exploration: Full-day game drive. The Selous is famous for its thriving populations of African Wild Dogs and diverse birdlife.
  • Day 3: Nyerere to Ruaha National Park (Fly): Transition to the rugged, baobab-studded landscape of Ruaha. This park feels like the Africa of a century ago.
  • Day 4: Ruaha Walking Safari & Game Drive: The Guru Move: A morning walking safari with an armed ranger to learn the art of tracking. Afternoon drive focusing on Ruaha’s massive lion prides.
  • Day 5: Deep Ruaha Exploration: Search for the rare Greater and Lesser Kudu, and track leopards along the dry riverbeds.
  • Day 6: Ruaha to Arusha/Dar: A final morning in the bush before your flight back to the coast or the northern highlands.
